You are invited to MMA's Cambridge Global Arts Festival tomorrow, Thursday, May 8th, starting at 5:30 PM. This year, we are embracing the "festival feel," and the entire event will take place on the front lawn at MMA (weather permitting). We will have a sidewalk Art show, an outdoor "Main Stage" for scholar performances, a chance to vote for the People's Choice Award, and our LIVE art auction. The LIVE art auction will be on the main stage starting at 6:30 PM with a professional auctioneer. It really is a lot of fun! Bring a lawn chair or blanket and plan to join us for the Cambridge Global Arts Festival! See the attached schedule of our "Main Stage" events. The festival will kick off with a parade at 5:30 PM, and we hope you'll enjoy the sidewalk Art show and voting during and in between performances. As a festival, we truly hope you'll enjoy the evening, mingle among the art, and celebrate together.

Check out our last Art Auction Sneak Peek! Take a look at our 6th-8th Grade Abstract Art Collage auction piece: 6th-8th graders worked collaboratively to create different zentangle drawings and then added cut paper shapes around the outside. The collage is framed in a 16x20 black frame. Wow! Did you see our 6th-8th Grade Dragon Fly auction piece: 6th-8th graders worked collaboratively to create a painted dragonfly using repurposed materials. The dragonfly is approximately 4ft x 3ft.

Attention RISING 6th, 7th, and 8th Graders: 2025-2026 Cheerleading Tryouts. Cheerleading tryouts for NEXT school year will begin on Monday, May 12th in the MMA gym from 3:30 to 6:00 PM. Scholars must have an up to date physical on file to participate. Contact Coach Black at Pattillo Middle School with any questions. Thank you!

Weekly Announcements May 5th - May 9th This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. Please join us in celebrating the BEST teachers with each themed day next week. Plan to join us outside on the front lawn for scholar performances, a sidewalk Art show, and a Live Art Auction. The festival is from 5:30 to 7:30, and the Live Art Auction will be on the main stage at 6:30. Bring your lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the Festival of the Arts with us! For all current 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders, Tarboro High is hosting free Sports Physicals is Tuesday, May 6th from 3 to 5 PM. Please take advantage of this opportunity. These physicals will be good for the duration of the 2025-2026 school year. For any 6th, 7th, or 8th grader who participated in a sport this year, the Annual Athletic Banquet is Monday, May 19th, beginning at 6 PM at Pattillo Middle School. We need your help! We need proctors to assist with EOG testing. We would be very grateful if you would share our need with any civic, faith-based, or fraternal organizations in which you are a part. Please also continue to share with your friends and family. We cannot administer the EOGs without the gracious help of volunteer proctors. If you or someone you know is interested, please have them contact Ms. Craddock at jennifercraddock@ecps.us or call 641-5710. Thank you! Also, a quick reminder for your 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade scholars that May Ball is tomorrow. You must arrive at school by 8:45 AM and cannot check out before 1:30 PM (last checkout time is 2:50). May Ball doors open at 6 PM, and parents will be allowed in only until 6:15. May Ball ends at 8 PM, and all scholars must be picked up by 8:15 PM. To help with the end of May Ball, please try to line up along the front of the school just as we do for carline pick-up. This will help with efficiency and safety. Thank you!

Another Art Auction Sneak Peek! Check out our 4th Grade Flower Pillows auction piece. Fourth Grade scholars worked collaboratively to draw and cut layered flowers out of felt. The flowers are attached to the pillows with buttons. The pillows are 20x20 inches. Look at this! Our 5th Grade Oyster Shell Wreath auction piece. Fifth Graders painted oyster shells using lines and patterns. The oyster shells were arranged as a wreath. The wreath is 18 inches.

Another Art Auction Sneak Peek! Check out our 2nd Grade Flower Collage auction piece! Second graders worked collaboratively to create flowers using a variety of papers and then assembled them onto a painted background. The flower collage is framed in a 16x20 gold frame. Take a look at our 3rd Grade Flower Pots auction piece! Third graders wrapped dowel rods with colorful yarn that were attached to the flower pots in a pattern. The flower pots are 10-inch pots.

JAWS Laundry Soap is here! You are welcome to start picking up your orders today! Orders can be picked up between 9 and 2 PM today at the front of the gym. Park on Johnston Street and enter the gym doors along Johnston Street. You do not need to check in at the front office; just report straight to the gym. Check It Out: Art Auction Sneak Peek! First take a look at our Kindergarten Butterfly Specimen Display auction piece. Each kindergarten scholar created a butterfly. They are framed in a 16x20 shadow box. Next, our First Grade Woven Paper auction piece. First Grade scholars worked together to create painted paper and cut them into strips. Then they wove the paper together to create a 16x16 square. The weaving is framed in a 20x20 frame.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, April 29th, is our annual Campus Beautification Day. During the school day, each homeroom will take part in helping to clean up and spruce up the campus. Scholars are encouraged to wear outdoor shoes and clothing and might consider a hat and/or sunscreen. Thank you!

Upcoming Announcements : Spring Break begins tomorrow, Friday, April 18th, and ends Friday, April 25th. Scholars return to school on Monday, April 28th. The JAWS Laundry Soap orders will be shipped to MMA after Spring Break. We anticipate we will have pick-up days in early May. Please be on the lookout for updated information once we return from Spring Break. After spring break, all students "take-home" devices (Chromebooks and chargers) are to be turned in to the Media Center. If your scholar has a Chromebook at home, it should be sent back to school. There will be no devices issued for home use over the summer. Any devices not turned in by the end of the school year will result in a fine on the student's account. Thank you!

Weekly Announcements 04.14 - 04.18 Field Days are happening this week. K-2 on Monday morning and 3rd-5th is Monday afternoon. 6th, 7th, and 8th grade will be on Tuesday morning. Please remember to wait for your scholar outside. If you opt to check them out, do so with their teacher. Also, remember we will have a food truck as an option to purchase lunch. Please reach out to your scholar's teacher for exact rotation and lunch times. Remember tennis shoes, maybe a hat, and sunscreen. We are looking forward to two sunny and fun-filled Field Days. Spring Break begins on Friday, April 18th. There will be no school this Friday through the following week. Scholars return to school on Monday, April 28th. That being said, even with Field Days, we still have teaching and learning happening this week. We expect students and staff to finish the week strong, staying focused and ready to learn. We'll work hard this week and rest and reset during Spring Break. Soccer is Home on Monday and Wednesday of this week. Baseball and Softball is away on Monday at West Edgecombe Middle and home on Thursday, April 17th. We do wish everyone a happy, restful and safe Spring Break. Thank you!
